Reports claim that Tottenham remain confident of sealing a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White despite a legal threat from Nottingham Forest, as the north London club remains calm.

The Morgan Gibbs-White transfer saga has taken many by surprise, not least Tottenham fans who had barely wrapped their heads around the club’s £55 million signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United before news broke that a £60 million move for Gibbs-White was already in motion.

Gibbs-White certainly impressed last season, registering ten assists and seven goals in 34 appearances, and with Tottenham aiming to inject more Premier League experience into their ranks, the rationale behind targeting the 25-year-old midfielder is quite obvious.

However, Spurs’ approach has not been well received by the hierarchy at Nottingham Forest, who are said to have taken legal action against the north London club, accusing them of making contact with their player without consent.

Tottenham confident of signing Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest

Multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano, have reported that despite the ongoing dispute, Tottenham Hotspur remain intent on completing the transfer of Morgan Gibbs-White, and that the expectation is that the deal will proceed as planned once the legal dust settles.

In fact, the Nottingham Forest owner is reported to be fuming, while Gibbs-White representatives are optimistic that the former Wolves man would get his move to a Champions League side.

Flashscore’s Dean Jones has now reiterated what has been reported elsewhere, stating that Spurs remain confident of landing their target.

According to the report, the club is taking a calm and measured stance, opting not to engage publicly with Forest’s claims, while privately maintaining that they followed the proper channels.

Tottenham’s confidence appears to stem from the belief that Nottingham Forest’s legal challenge will not be enough to scupper the deal. Internally, they do not see any serious threat to their pursuit of the midfielder and expect the situation to be resolved favourably.

Gibbs-White expected to join Spurs despite Forest resistance

Jones also states that he expects the legal hurdles to be cleared and that Morgan Gibbs-White will be a Tottenham player before the new season gets underway.

Unsurprisingly, Nottingham Forest fans have reacted angrily to the developments, with many calling the midfielder irreplaceable and questioning the club’s inability to retain such a pivotal player.

It has even been claimed that Tottenham’s approach took Forest by surprise, especially given the timing, arriving just after Spurs had splashed £55 million on Kudus.

The Tricky Trees had reportedly been working on a new contract offer for Gibbs-White, in hopes of keeping him at the City Ground.

If all legal manoeuvres are dealt with promptly, Spurs supporters can expect an official announcement from the Lilywhites soon, assuming there are no further setbacks.
