Well, Spurs’ midfielder, Yves Bissouma, has suffered what appears to be a serious ankle injury during a World Cup qualifying match for Mali against Madagascar on Sunday.
He came on as a substitute around the 66th minute; this was his first competitive appearance since the end of the previous Premier League season, but he was stretchered off the pitch just seconds later after a challenge, looking visibly distressed.
This incident occurred shortly after Bissouma had returned to training with both Tottenham and Mali following a long-term injury that had kept him out of action for the start of the 2025-26 season. Mali went on to win the match 4-1, but no immediate updates on the severity of Bissouma’s ankle issue or his expected recovery timeline have been confirmed as of today.
Before this, Bissouma had been working his way back to full fitness and was potentially in contention for Tottenham’s upcoming Premier League game against Aston Villa on Sunday.
