After being presented to fans on the pitch ahead of kick-off at our Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday, Ledley King, Jenna Schillaci, Chris Hughton and late club founder Bobby Buckle – represented by his granddaughter Trina Nichols – took their rightful place among some of the greatest figures in our Club’s history as we welcomed four new Hall of Famers for the first time since the initiative was paused nearly a decade ago following the closure of White Hart Lane.
They were joined on Monday by many of our existing inductees and surviving relatives of those sadly no longer with us, along with members of our Board of Directors and a select number of Season Ticket Holders and One Hotspur Members, as we celebrated the careers of four true icons of Tottenham Hotspur.
Non-Executive Chairman Peter Charrington addressed those in attendance before Ledley, Jenna and Chris were interviewed on stage by hosts Ben Haines and Reshmin Choudhury. A fascinating video interview was also played out with Bobby’s grandson Michael Mackman, detailing his memories of his grandfather’s life and times.
Earlier in the night, all of our inductees in attendance – including the Class of 2026 – drew back the curtain to officially unveil our new Hall of Fame wall installation, a reimagining for the modern era of what was once in place at White Hart Lane. Located near the players’ tunnel area, this fantastic collection of plaques depicting each and every inductee to date will now be made available for supporters to enjoy as part of our behind-the-scenes stadium tours.
A one-club man, Ledley progressed through the ranks to become our captain, leading us to League Cup glory in 2008, while Jenna, another legendary former defender and long-serving captain who led us up through the leagues and into the full-time professional era as members of the Women’s Super League, becomes the first-ever women’s inductee into our Hall of Fame.
Iconic left-back Chris, 15th on our all-time list of top appearance-makers, gave 25 years of service as a player, coach and assistant manager, while Bobby was famously one of a small group of boys who met under a lamp post on Tottenham High Road and founded the club 144 years ago.
Many congratulations to all four of our new inductees – look out for video highlights from Monday’s event on official club channels in the coming days.
The return of our Hall of Fame, first launched in 2004 with 45 of the Club’s greatest former players and managers inducted over the next 12 years, forms part of a wider programme of work ongoing across the Club to reconnect with the rich footballing heritage on which we are built.
