Previously the Women's League Cup, a new format for the competition - featuring a league and knockout phase - was unveiled on Tuesday (28 July) for clubs not involved in European competition.
That means we are one of the 23 teams from the Barclays Women’s Super League and WSL2 competing for the trophy and will not feature the three sides in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
The initial group stage adopts a Swiss-style league format with each side playing three home and three away fixtures against teams in their regionalised section - Northern and Southern - with results ranked in a unified league table.
Played midweek between September and December, it is three points for a win and - for any game tied after 90 minutes - a penalty shootout will take place with the winner receiving two points and the loser awarded one point.
Following that, the top eight positions will progress to the Knockout Phase and play a one-legged tie with teams ranked based on their final league position.
The quarter-finals will take place in January, followed by semi-finals in February and the final in a neutral venue in March.
Fixtures for the League Phase will be announced at midday on Thursday 6 August.
