Newcastle United won for the first time in the Premier League under Matthias Jaissle with a 2-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur.
Nico Gonzalez made his Newcastle United debut as Matthias Jaissle made six changes from the 3-2 Carabao Cup second round win over West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.
The Spaniard came into the starting XI along with Lukas Hornicek, Lewis Miley, Anthony Elanga, Harvey Barnes and Yoane Wissa, as Ewen Jaouen, Sean Steur, Jacob Ramsey, Jacob Murphy, Bazoumana Toure and Nick Woltemade made way.
Elanga broke the deadlock on the hour mark after he got on the end of Dedic’s clever knockdown. On the turn, the Swedish international saw his effort go in off the post.
Wissa then doubled the Magpies’ lead in the 72nd minute. A deep corner by Lewis Hall was headed goalwards by substitute Nick Woltemade and the No.9 acrobatically flicked his shot past the Spurs goalkeeper.
