Tottenham have sacked Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge following Tuesday night's 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle.

Spurs' latest setback saw them drop to 16th in the Premier League standings, just five points above the relegation zone.

Frank leaves the north London outfit having won only 13 of his 38 games in charge since moving from Brentford, where he spent seven successful years at the helm, last summer.

Former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi left Marseille by mutual consent earlier on Wednesday morning and is the early frontrunner with bookmakers to replace Frank.

The Italian is 8-11 with Betfair and Paddy Power to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently manager of the United States national team, next in at 4-1.

Robbie Keane, who had two spells with the club as a player, is a 10-1 chance to take the job, the same price as former Barcelona boss Xavi.
