Everton are looking to take some considerable steps forward in the summer transfer window with some big signings.
The Toffees are ending the 2024/25 campaign with a trip to Newcastle United and 13th place in the table already secured.
David Moyes has been able to secure Premier League survival after an impressive turn of form since his arrival in January.
This summer is going to see Moyes provided the financial backing of the Friedkins who will be looking to bring major improvements to their squad.
Everton will be looking to address numerous positions with several players set to depart Merseyside over the coming weeks.
However, the Blues will be competing against some of their Premier League rivals with a list of targets being shared by clubs across the league.
Everton and Tottenham battling for Koni de Winter
With a new defender on the radar for the Toffees, Everton have identified Koni de Winter as a target.
But he is also on the radar of the newly-crowned Europa League champions Tottenham Hotspur who need to improve considerably on this season’s showing.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
According to La Repubblica, Tottenham have now put forward a €24m (£20m) offer to Genoa for their centre-back.
The lure of playing Champions League football with Spurs could cause Everton with some issues in their battle for the defender.
And it is not like a move to Merseyside would come with the guarantee of playing regular minutes given the partnership formed between James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite.
Everton are keen to sign a new defender this summer with the future of Michael Keane still hanging in the balance.
Although the Toffees can boast a solid starting pairing, their injury issues demonstrate the need to bolster their squad options.
Koni de Winter idolises former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian has enjoyed a solid season in Serie A with Genoa where he has even been able to net three goals in his 24 league appearances.
He may be a defender, but the 22-year-old does idolise the former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for the career he has had representing Belgium.
“In Belgium, we are not a lot of people but the careers of Lukaku and Hazard and these guys… how big stars they became. it’s really nice. I think it’s special if you have this magnitude coming from Belgium,” he told the Mirror.
There are still a number of weeks until the summer window does open, but the Lilywhites are clearly looking to land an advantage in the race for De Winter.
