The 23-year-old goalkeeper and becomes our fifth signing of the summer transfer window, joining Shekiera Martinez, Caitlin Dijkstra, Kirsty Hanson and Victoria Pelova as new signings.
Rising through the leagues in her homeland of Norway, the young shot stopper made her mark at SK Brann, arriving ahead of the 2025 season with Martin at the helm and became an integral part of their squad, maintaining 18 clean sheets in 27 league games to help the Bergen-based side to the championship.
Not only does Selma have a familiar face in Martin but she already knows a core part of the squad – Signe Gaupset from their time in Norway youth sides and then at SK Brann alongside national compatriots Cathinka Tandberg and Julie Blakstad.
Having watched her friends and former Head Coach lead us to a record-breaking season in England’s top flight last term, the Norway international is looking forward to being part of the journey.
“I'm very excited,” she told us after becoming a Spurs player on Tuesday. “I've seen a lot of the games last year, and even before that, and I think it's a very exciting club - a project that's really going upwards, so I'm really excited to join.
“I have seen some seasons that were tough, but when I saw the last year, I feel like you're really starting to build something and I just really want to be a part of it because I really believe in it.”
“Obviously, I have some friends here from before, who have spoken great things about Spurs, so I’m really look forward to start. They say that it's lovely here, that they love coming into training every day and developing, taking new steps and really want the club to be competing for the league.”
“I've wanted to be in the WSL for a while – that’s always been the big league that I really wanted to join. But [the last] two or three years I've watched it and, of course, they play a part in me wanting to be here, but it's mostly the sports side of it and my opportunity here to develop as a player and take new steps - that's a massive part. I also really believe in the project around the club.
On reuniting with Martin, she added: “Obviously, I know him from before. He was my coach in Brann for just half a year and I really enjoyed working with him. I think he's a good coach, but I have also heard that there's a lot of good staff members here, it's not only him. So, I've spoken to him and I think it's going to be great.”
Excelling in domestic league football in Norway, Selma earned her chance for the senior national team, after progressing through the youth set-up, and made her international debut in June, 2025, before going on to be part of Norway’s squad for the UEFA 2025 European Championships in Switzerland.
“I've learned a lot since I've gone to the [senior] national team because you have so many great players that have experienced so much,” she explained.
“You also have people like me that are younger and newer to everything. So, I've learned a lot and still think we have a lot to develop as a team to get all the stars and players to get the best out of each other.”
