Pape Matar Sarr will be looking over his shoulder after an update on Tottenham’s interest in Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
Sarr became a frequent starter under former manager Ange Postecoglou.
However, now that Thomas Frank is in charge, things could be set to change in North London, especially after a recent transfer development.
Aston Villa want £40million for Tottenham target Ramsey
Tottenham have been linked with several midfielders, including Ramsey.
The Englishman made 46 appearances for Aston Villa this season and became a staple in the midfield alongside Youri Tielemans.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Tottenham have long been linked with a move for Ramsey, and as reported by Tom Collomosse via the Daily Mail (12 June), the Lilywhites are monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation alongside West Ham.
A £40m price tag has been placed on the Villa academy graduate.
This potential signing is one of many set to leave several Spurs players displaced this summer, and Sarr now risks being the latest casualty of Tottenham’s transfer plans.
After establishing himself as a regular starter for Spurs, it is difficult to believe that Sarr will accept becoming a second fiddle to Ramsey if he arrives. Therefore, a summertime exit may become more attractive for the 22-year-old if Ramsey is signed.
Tottenham should move for Ramsey this summer
Ramsey had one of his best individual seasons to date last season, where he scored four goals and provided seven assists for Aston Villa.
As a result, this transfer should be a no-brainer for all involved at Spurs.
Ramsey can play as both a central and left-sided midfielder, which offers the Lilywhites the kind of versatility they’ll need if they want to compete in Europe next season.
However, there is no doubt that Tottenham will face competition. Therefore, Spurs will need to strike while the Iron is still hot if they want any chance of signing Ramsey this summer.
