Ange Postecoglou remains a popular figure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite his sacking, with many fans interested to see where he’ll manage next.
The Australian wrote his name in Tottenham folklore after leading them to Europa League glory this season.
Now, it appears he might be back in North London sooner rather than later.
Postecoglou favours return to England over Saudi League job
Postecoglou had been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia to manage Al-Ahli.
It’s rumoured that their manager Matthias Jaissle is under pressure, even though he led his team to the AFC Champions League title last month.
MORE SPURS STORIES
However, a new report from The Sun’s print edition (16 June, page 47) suggests Postecoglou would prefer a job in England over the Saudi Pro League.
There has been no shortage of speculation linking Postecoglou with a Premier League club. Recently, it has been suggested he could take over at Leeds United.
Postecoglou has also been touted as the potential new Brentford boss, now that Thomas Frank has left to take over as Spurs manager.
Either way, that would mean Spurs fans could see him back at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sooner than expected if he gets his way.
Postecoglou deserves another crack at Premier League glory
It was a controversial move for Daniel Levy to sack Postecoglou.
He may have led Spurs to 17th place in this season’s Premier League, but he won the Europa League, and many supporters still believed the Aussie was the man to lead their club to glory.
Now, it seems as if Tottenham’s loss could be another Premier League club’s gain.
Postecoglou would likely be a popular appointment at Leeds. His no-nonsense attacking approach is similar to what Marcelo Bielsa deployed at Elland Road.
Brentford have also found success with a relentless attacking style, particularly in their home games. They could do a lot worse than Postecoglou as they search for a new manager.
