Powerless: “fast and fearless” attacker looks destined for a Spurs move this winter

Opta Analyst described Bournemouth’s talismanic winger, Antoine Semenyo, as the player who encapsulates their fast, fearless, counter-attacking identity. In fact, there’s very little about the man that Opta Analyst doesn’t find attractive, and it is easy to understand why.

Semenyo has already scored six times and registered a further three assists this season. Bournemouth have scored 11 goals overall, meaning their star man has been involved in 81.8% of them. That is, unsurprisingly, the highest proportion of any player for any team this season.

What’s just as interesting is that David Ornstein of The Athletic has described Bournemouth as being ‘powerless’ to retain his services.

“Suitors were told during the previous market that the fee required to secure Semenyo was around £70million ($92.2m), whereas the sale price for the winter is now formally set at £65m. It must be activated by a specific date, which would give Bournemouth a couple of weeks to replace their best player, and is available to any team.”

Tottenham has a very evident attacking problem. Our strikers are either depressed or injured, or just not very good at finding the back of the net. The addition of a “fearless” attacker with a bold, direct style—often emulating Erling Haaland’s goal-scoring impact, aiming to make a lasting impact on the game, would surely work wonders.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has called him superior to players like Manchester City’s Jérémy Doku, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, claiming he’d “start for any team” on the left-hand side due to his explosive runs and finishing.

Do not lose sight of the stats. In t he 2025/26 Premier League season, he has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 11 matches (990 minutes), averaging 0.55 goals per 90 minutes and 0.82 goal involvements per 90—topping Bournemouth’s scoring charts. This is frankly remarkable stuff from the six-foot-one-inch star.

Tottenham is being linked with several stars for the winter window, and it would make no sense at all to look outside the division when such outstanding quality was seemingly available.
