Tottenham Hotspur managed a draw at home against Manchester United and will be looking to improve on that form when the Premier League resumes after the international break.
With that in mind, here is our prediction for how Tottenham Hotspur could perform in their next five Premier League matches.
Spurs to struggle against Arsenal in north London derby
Right after the break for Thomas Frank’s side is Arsenal in what is the big one of the season. It will be the first competitive north London derby for Frank since taking charge.
The Dane managed a 1-0 victory against the Gunners during Tottenham’s pre-season tour in Asia, but his side could very well struggle against Mikel Arteta’s men when they clash for the first time in the league.
Spurs do not have a strong record against Arsenal and could suffer another defeat at the weekend at the Emirates Stadium.
Prediction: 2-1 Arsenal win
Tottenham to secure London derby win against Fulham
The derby theme continues after Spurs‘ clash with Arsenal, and this time the Lilywhites will be up against Fulham.
MORE SPURS STORIES
It is set to be a home game for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which might not inspire loads of confidence given their inconsistent home record in the league.
However, Fulham have struggled for much of the campaign, and at the time of writing, the Cottagers have managed just one win from their last five league outings, sitting 15th and a single point above the relegation zone.
Prediction: Tottenham to win 3-0
Tottenham to draw against Newcastle United
December’s schedule will see games come thick and fast, and Spurs will begin their festive run with a tricky away fixture at St James’ Park.
Newcastle are another side Tottenham have found difficult to beat in recent encounters, and Eddie Howe’s team already got the better of Frank’s men earlier this season in the Carabao Cup.
While Tottenham may not secure all three points, they could still take a valuable draw from the Magpies, given their strong away form, which currently stands as the best in the Premier League.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are yet to find their rhythm, sitting 14th in the table.
Prediction: 1-1 draw
Tottenham to slay the giant slayers
After the midweek meeting with Newcastle United, Tottenham will return home to face Brentford – Thomas Frank’s former side.
The Bees have been one of the surprise packages this season, staying competitive despite losing Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo, Frank and several members of their backroom staff.
Brentford are 12th in the division and have shown impressive resilience, claiming wins over top sides including Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle, but Frank and his team should have enough to overcome them when they meet next month.
Prediction: Tottenham to win 2-1
Nottingham Forest to take three points from Frank’s side
Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest share a bit of history. During the summer transfer window, Spurs were reportedly close to signing Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his release clause, but a turn of events saw the midfielder extend his stay at the City Ground.
Former Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou also had a brief spell with Forest, lasting just 39 days before being dismissed after failing to win a single match.
Forest, now under Sean Dyche, appears to be building momentum, with a few wins in all competitions and a home draw against Manchester United.
