Tottenham Hotspur are eager to bring Antoine Semenyo to North London, but the player wishes to make contact with a Premier League rival.
There is no greater need in the Tottenham first-team squad than on the left wing. This has been made clear by Thomas Frank, who continues to rotate between Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert, while even Richarlison and Xavi Simons have featured out wide.
Reports suggest Antoine Semenyo is one of the top transfer targets at Tottenham Hotspur, and Spurs are intensifying their interest in the winger.
However, doubts have already been raised about whether Tottenham will be able to sign Semenyo, as Liverpool are ahead of them in the race to sign the Premier League star.
Manchester City overtake Tottenham in their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo
In a new update on Semenyo, Team Talk report that Spurs are not viewed as a desirable option due to their poor form and position in the Premier League table.
Manchester City would be a more attractive destination and the club have made formal enquiries about Semenyo’s £65m release clause.
The 25-year-old is reportedly ‘keen to engage’ with Manchester City after they made contact with Bournemouth to discuss the specifics around a potential deal.

Tottenham eyed Semenyo in the summer and are keen on his directness, but the interest from other Premier League clubs means signing him is unlikely at this point.
Spurs are interested in Samu Aghehowa as well as Semenyo
Although Tottenham are in a poor position to sign Semenyo, the club have also shown interest in Porto youngster Samu Aghehowa.
The forward has scored 10 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions this season and could be a more realistic option in January.
Of course, he too is attracting interest from other clubs, but bringing him to North London is at least a possibility.
