Premier League predictions - Arsenal (2nd)
Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer
This is the acid test for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. No more talk of process and progress. It is time for actual silverware after five years without a trophy.
This time, Arteta has been given all the required tools to do the job - an already talented squad bolstered by the class of Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi and - at long last and at least 12 months too late - a recognised striker in Viktor Gyokeres.
This is a team with enough to mount a meaningful title pursuit and challenge for the biggest prizes.
This time Arsenal and Arteta have no excuses. They must win a trophy this season - and there should be optimism at the Emirates Stadium that they can do so.

Leeds target another striker
Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter
Leeds are tracking Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis as they look to bolster their strikeforce.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is due to complete a free transfer to Elland Road but Daniel Farke still wants to add more firepower.
Ioannidis has 48 goals in 168 appearances for Panathinaikos and has scored six times in 17 caps for Greece.
The 25-year-old interested Ipswich last summer while Sporting Lisbon and Porto remain keen.
Leeds also retain an interest in Norwich forward Josh Sargent, who Farke brought to Carrow Road, but he is not a priority as it stands.
Patrick Bamford has been told he has no future under Farke while fellow striker Mateo Joseph joined Mallorca on loan earlier this month, leaving Leeds short up front.
Leeds start their Premier League campaign at home to Everton on Monday.
Phil McNulty's Premier League predictions - Liverpool (1st)
Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer
It's hard to see past Liverpool as this season's Premier League champions.
This is a team that won the title at a 10-point canter last term and has been strengthened by a remarkable summer spending spree. The transition is still a work in progress, as the Community Shield loss to Crystal Palace proved, but this a prediction made with complete confidence.
What should have been a summer of joy has lived under the shadow of the tragic death of beloved striker Diogo Jota - killed in a car crash - as well as the incident that left supporters injured at the title trophy parade.
The season will start without the departed Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, but Florian Wirtz was a statement signing - one of Europe's most coveted forwards - at £116m from Bayer Leverkusen, along with full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. New striker Hugo Ekitike, signed for an initial £69m from Eintracht Frankfurt, showed his class with a goal in the Community Shield.
Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is the latest target, and Newcastle United's Alexander Isak may yet arrive - a frightening prospect for anyone wanting to take Liverpool's title away.

Right then, the new season is upon and hope springs eternal for fans across the country.
It is also a time for predictions and we've spoken to Premier League legend and former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to see how he sees the coming season going.
How much will Man Utd improve on last season's disappointment? Can Arsenal end a run of three straight second place finishes and win the title? Who will have the most success of the three promoted sides?
Let's find out what Mr Rooney thinks...
Leoni signing 'exciting'
The Redmen TV's Dan Clubbe speaking to BBC Sport on Giovanni Leoni: "It's an exciting one. It has been stark some of the defensive issues we have had at pre-season. Getting more bodies at the back was essential.
"I've had a few conversations with people that watch more Serie A than I ever would, and they've been really impressed with what they've seen and how he manhandled Lukaku really stood out to people."

Arne Slot had the honour of the very first news conference of the new campaign and if you want to hear reaction to what the Liverpool boss had to say, you've come to the right place.

'Wirtz has to adapt to intensity of the league'
Liverpool v Bournemouth (Fri, 20:00 BST)
Liverpool
Arne Slot on Jeremie Frimpong replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold: "Trent brought the best out of Mo [Salah], but we think the same thing is going to happen with Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong in regards to Mo."
On Florian Wirtz: "Factually we can see him as a young player, but I don't see him as one. He won the cup and league in Germany, and his mentality is his biggest strength.
"That says a lot, because when you see him play he is so creative. He is mentally strong, he doesn't get distracted by a transfer fee or anything else.
"Good players always find a way to play well in good teams. He has to adjust to England, the league and the intensity, and his team-mates. His adjustment has already gone quite well, more than we expected."
