The Spurs board has reportedly approved a £150 million transfer budget for the January 2026 window to support manager Thomas Frank, who took over from Ange Postecoglou in June 2025. The club is looking to bolster the squad amid a mixed season (currently mid-table in the Premier League despite European involvement).
Savinho, a 21-year-old Brazilian winger from Manchester City, is reportedly a primary target. Spurs pursued him aggressively in the summer but were blocked by Pep Guardiola. His limited playing time this season, overshadowed by players like Jeremy Doku has reopened the door, especially if City sign a replacement like Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. A move could happen if City secure Semenyo early in the window.
To me, this feels lacking in real ambition.
Tottenham are allegedly making a move for a player who is underused at City, while a primary target signing for them brings little warmth.
Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa is indeed a realistic but expensive option for Tottenham Hotspur (THFC) as a striker target. The 21-year-old Spanish international forward plays for FC Porto, where he’s been in excellent form since joining from Atlético Madrid in 2024.
Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa is a better bet
He’s tall (1.93m), physical, quick, and clinical—often compared to a modern target man who can also run in behind defences. He won Olympic gold with Spain in 2024 and has made senior international appearances. Recent reports (as of mid-to-late December 2025) confirm Tottenham have scouted and considered him as a potential centre-forward signing, particularly to bolster their attack under Thomas Frank.
However, his transfer fee is a major barrier. Tottenham aren’t alone in interest (Arsenal, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and even Chelsea have been linked), but a deal looks unlikely in January due to the cost and Porto’s reluctance. Summer 2026 could be more feasible if his form continues.
He’s exactly the profile many Spurs fans (and reportedly the club) want: young, prolific, and Premier League-ready.
The negative is the suspected £70M fee, but is that as negative as messing around with Richarlison and hoping that Solanke comes good?
