Liverpool should do what they can to jeopardise a £30m deal. Tottenham Hotspur have a star worth double that, easily.
Liverpool are on the lookout for centre-backs, even if they ultimately decide against signing another this summer. Ibrahima Konate's exit forces them to consider the market but they do have four options.
Four good options, too. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez offer a wealth of experience and quality. Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet boast remarkable potential, coupled with an ability to play at the top level already.
But with both Van Dijk and Gomez out of contract next summer, Liverpool must still consider the future and that means waiting to find market opportunities that may crop up. Well, one has.
Brighton are currently bidding for Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur, believing they can sign the teenager for around £30m. That's according to The Athletic.
Liverpool cannot sit idly by if this is true. Vuskovic is one of the absolute best young centre-backs on the planet - in fact, there's no doubt he's the top teenage prospect around.
The 18-year-old is brilliant on the ball and a fantastically solid defender, having already completed an impressive senior campaign at Hamburg this season. There is no doubting his quality.
And £30m? Vuskovic will be worth twice that within six months of regular Premier League football. Maybe even three times it.
