Tottenham appear set for a summer of upheaval following a crucial managerial change.

Daniel Levy has settled on a change in the dugout, with Thomas Frank replacing Ange Postecoglou in a decision which has caused plenty of controversy, but will also result in fresh ideas on several levels of the club.

A managerial change typically results in something of an overhaul of the playing squad, and that is expected to be the case for Frank as well, with the Dane expected to alter Spurs’ style of play fairly significantly.

Charlie Warren has joined QPR after a decade at Tottenham

Amid all the change at first-team level in N17, it’s easy to forget that the academy setup will have been progressing as normal, despite all the uncertainty above it.

Spurs have a reputation for producing exceptional players through their youth setup, with Mikey Moore having become the latest to successfully make the jump to the first team this season.

However, not everyone is ultimately capable of making that step-up, which results in the club having to make ruthless decisions on several youngsters, many of whom have been at the club for a lengthy period.

Charlie Warren is one of multiple players to be released from Spurs’ academy this summer, having been at the club for a decade.

“After 10 amazing years, my time at Tottenham Hotspur has now come to an end,” the goalkeeper wrote in an Instagram post.

“I would like to thank everybody involved at the club for helping me become the person and the player that I am today. Thank you.”

The shotstopper has now agreed a deal to join Championship side QPR (12 June).

Frank will oversee plenty of changes at Spurs

Frank’s appointment marks the start of an exciting new chapter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the club look to move in a slightly different direction.

Ange Postecoglou drew criticism at times for his abrasive style, but Frank is a much more measured and calm character.

One of the major hallmarks of his Brentford side was their ability to adapt to different styles of play depending on their opponent, and that will undoubtedly have been a huge positive in the eyes of the Tottenham hierarchy.

As with any new manager, he will want to bring his own players in, and it would be no surprise to see Spurs attempt to mount a last-minute push for Bryan Mbeumo, who starred for Frank during his time at the Bees.

Only time will tell whether Levy and Co. have ultimately selected the right man, but it seems certain that things will be a little different in N17 next term.
