Radu Drăgușin’s career at Tottenham could be in jeopardy after just 18 months in North London.

Drăgușin joined Spurs from Genoa in January 2024 but struggled to lock down a starting position before an ACL injury against IF Elfsborg in the UEFA Europa League prematurely ended his season in January.

The towering centre-back has produced a handful of impressive defensive performances but has not generally looked at ease with the ball at his feet.

Drăgușin was spotted meeting Thomas Frank on the manager’s first official day at the training ground as the Romania international continues his recovery.

However, the defender may not be in the Dane’s long-term plans following recent developments.

Spurs have enquired about Genoa defender Koni De Winter

Tottenham have been left in an awkward position at centre-back as Cristian Romero’s future remains unresolved.

Frank is set to speak with the Argentine in the coming days, but the possibility of him moving to Atletico Madrid this summer has meant that the Lilywhites have continued to explore the market.

As reported by Ben Jacobs via X (July 4), Spurs have enquired about Genoa defender Koni De Winter, along with Inter Milan.

The versatile Belgian defender has enjoyed a successful season in Italy, playing mainly in the middle of the defence and occasionally filling in at right-back.

The former Juventus player has followed a similar career path to his former colleague Drăgușin, who could now be fearing the worst for his future, especially if Romero stays in North London.

Tottenham are looking for a full-back, and De Winter’s ability to play wide could make him the preferred option in the squad, potentially prompting Spurs to sell his Romanian counterpart.

De Winter signing is a risk for Spurs

At 23 years old, De Winter has plenty of room to improve, but his lack of Premier League experience could see him join a long list of players who have failed to make the step up.

Another potential sticking point for Spurs is his injury record, which has seen the Tottenham target miss over 10 games for his club in three of his last four seasons.

Signing De Winter would be a risk for Daniel Levy, who will want to avoid another player in the treatment room, especially given the North Londoners have a litter of young centre-backs coming through the ranks.
