Radu Dragusin has reportedly been offered up to leave Tottenham after recovering from his injury lay-off.
The Romanian has been out of action for almost a year after suffering an ACL injury in the Europa League last January, having arrived at the club from Genoa in the winter transfer window a year earlier.
Dragusin was linked with a move away from Tottenham in the summer after Thomas Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou as manager but nothing came about.
He made a return to action in a behind-closed-doors friendly last month, and was then included in his first Spurs squad under the new boss at the weekend, but stayed on the bench as Tottenham were beaten by Liverpool in a chaotic match, and now could be on the way out.
Radu Dragusin offered to Roma
According to a new update from Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy Roma boss Gian Piero Gasparini is looking for a potential centre-back signing in the New Year and Dragusin is an option.
MORE SPURS STORIES
The 23-year-old has reportedly been offered to the Serie A side along with frozen-out Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.
In a separate update from Tutto Mercato Web it is suggested that the most likely way out of Tottenham would be on a loan-to-buy deal.
However, with Fabio Paratici due to leave Tottenham for a role at Fiorentina, a switch to La Viola is also considered one to keep an eye on.
Cristian Romero chaos requires able back up
If Dragusin is to leave imminently then it has to be assumed that Frank has seen enough on the training pitches since his return to fitness to believe he doesn’t fit his style.
Otherwise it seems short-sighted to let a player go so early when it is hard to imagine it being financially game-changing in any positive way at this stage.
Kevin Danso is available and Ben Davies can step in if pushed but Tottenham need capable support at the centre-back position to turn to at all times given captain Cristian Romero is a regular suspension risk.
The Argentine was already looking odds-on to pick up a ban for cumulative yellow cards before he sped up the process with the brainless sending off in the Liverpool loss, while fellow starter Micky van de Ven’s hamstrings are a potential injury worry.
Dragusin hasn’t set the world on fire at Spurs and there is arguably a fair amount of filler in a squad that is dramatically underachieving, but with so many injury issues throughout it is a risk to let anyone go without an obvious replacement coming in.
