Danny Rohl has hinted that Rangers are open to making an approach to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur to extend Mikey Moore’s stay at the club beyond the end of the season.
The 18-year-old playmaker joined the Ibrox side on a season-long loan from Spurs last summer and after a sluggish start under previous boss Russell Martin, the winger has developed into a first-team regular under current head coach Rohl.
To date, Moore has made 36 appearances across all competitions and has offered versatility in the attacking areas. He has developed into a fans’ favourite and the player himself has already spoken of his affection for the club.
Moore is tied down to a “long-term” contract in North London, but with Tottenham changing their manager and battling relegation this term, the teenage prospect could face an uncertain future.
Rohl admits he has enjoyed working with the Spurs talent and confirmed that discussions will begin soon on plans for next season, suggesting a return for Moore either on another loan or a permanent deal could be on the table.
“Yeah, first, I think he made a fantastic development since I’m here,” Rohl admitted when asked about the possibility of Moore staying at Ibrox beyond the summer. “He showed his quality, he’s still a young player, and he gained a lot of good experience this year.

“To play for a big club is always important, helpful in a young career, and a good experience; he did so well. I’m happy with him and of course, let’s see what we can do. I think this is something to consider in the following weeks.
“I think this is a good thing that we are clear, we start next week as well to speak about the summer (as a club). Bring all this information together, and I think it’s important not just what we feel, I think Mikey feels also really good here, you see the relationship between him and the fans.
“He likes the club, but there are a lot of different people around to make such a decision. I think let’s see what we can do in the future. For now lets focus on the title race and then we will hopefully make good decisions in the summer.
Rohl seeks patience from Rangers fans but urges them to bring the passion
Rangers head into Sunday’s colossal Old Firm meeting in a better position than rivals Celtic, but the emergence of a third force in Hearts this season has made for a fascinating title race.
The outcome of this game out have severe consequences for the losing side with the stakes now higher than ever before in determining how might lift the Premiership title.
Rohl is pleading for patience from an expectant home crowd this weekend as they look to break down Celtic, but has urged them to bring the passion and the noise.
The German added: “Yes, I think this is a big part of our development, we know we want to play forward, we want to attack. For me, it’s not necessary to prepare the next chance with 100 passes, I’ve said this many times, but sometimes you have to move the opponent in one space so you can attack the other space.
”But generally it’s important that we have our vertical possession in our mind, instead of we play backwards, backwards, and if we can do this and we stick to this principle and hen we make good decisions.”
