Richarlison has been speaking to the Brazilian media about the start he has had to the season and shed light on what Thomas Frank did to get the best out of him at Tottenham.

Dominic Solanke’s injury problems have offered Richarlison an opportunity to have a run in the Spurs side so far this season, and he has grabbed it with both hands.

Despite the constant speculation over his future during the summer, the 28-year-old has insisted that he never considered leaving Hotspur Way this summer.

In fact, Richarlison informed Thomas Frank he wanted to stay in the pair’s first conversation after the Danish coach walked through the door at Tottenham in the summer.

Richarlison admits he is following Thomas Frank’s plan closely at Tottenham

The Brazil international’s constant injury woes have meant that he has not been able to showcase his best in a Spurs shirt over the last three years.

The striker revealed that Frank and his staff have prepared a specific fitness plan for him through pre-season, which he is following to a tee.

Speaking after Brazil’s 3-0 win over Chile, the Tottenham man told Itatiaia Esporte: “I had a good pre-season, worked hard, and the new Tottenham coach [Thomas Frank] made a plan for me.

Richarlison admits he faces a big Brazil challenge

Richarlison came on as a 78th-minute substitute against Chile, with Chelsea’s Joao Pedro getting the nod to start over him as the centre-forward.

The Tottenham man was the Selecao’s first-choice number nine heading into the last World Cup, but he admitted that he faces a sterner challenge forcing himself into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven, given the competition he now faces.

When asked about becoming Brazil’s first-choice centre-forward in the United States next summer, Richarlison said: “I think the pressure is bigger, but what matters is that I keep working hard. I want to win that confidence back. I had injuries and personal problems before, but that is resolved now.”
