Rio Ferdinand has made a scathing claim about Tottenham after their defeat to Fulham at the weekend, which enhanced their prospects of relegation.

Once again, Spurs did get a bit lucky that the bottom club, Wolves, were the only team in the fight for relegation to pick up any points.

Tottenham were largely miserable against Fulham, though, and although Richarlison offered hope in the second half, it’s still no wins in 2026 when it comes to the Premier League.

Ferdinand has admitted in the aftermath of this latest defeat and Igor Tudor’s comments, that he’s deeply concerned about Tottenham.

Rio Ferdinand thinks Tottenham will go down

It’s unthinkable, but Tottenham are in genuine danger of being relegated this season and are now the only Premier League club without a win in 2026.

Tudor has come in and seemingly torched an already blazing inferno with his comments about the problems at the club and the players available to him.

Ferdinand thinks the problems for Tottenham run far too deep for any change to take place now and believes the North Londoners will be relegated this season.

He said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast: “Spurs are going down. Even their manager says, we’ve got to improve in every single area, including the brain. Do you know what I mean?

“Like, he must be sitting, he walked in there, Tudor, the manager, and gone like, and thought, wow, the stadium, been walked around the training ground, wow, this is elite. And then seeing the team turn up and thinking, what, where, what, what is this? I reckon he’s sitting there talking to his mates, going, listen, I cannot believe what I’m seeing here.

“I think they’ll go down.”

Tottenham have chance to prove Ferdinand wrong

With Crystal Palace to come this week and then Forest to play at home later this month, two wins could be enough to really pile on the pressure on the other teams down there.

Tottenham have the quality within the squad to really make things difficult for the other teams, but doubts do remain over Tudor’s credentials to finish the job.

Ferdinand is absolutely right to hold reservations over the team, and things do feel bleak.

However, one win could get Tottenham rolling again and with Palace now pretty clear from relegation danger, there is a huge opportunity for the team this week.
