Roberto De Zerbi will finally get a chance to work with a player he has long admired now that they are both together at Tottenham Hotspur.
The new Spurs manager is getting to know his new squad, having walked through the door at Tottenham just last week.
According to reports, many Spurs players have raved about their first few training sessions with De Zerbi, who appears to have made a strong first impression on the players.
Tottenham fans have been busy speculating which players their new head coach will favour, and it turns out that the Italian is a big fan of one Spurs winger.
Roberto De Zerbi tried to sign Tottenham star Mohammed Kudus in the past
Jack Pitt-Brooke has now revealed that there is at least one player in the Spurs squad whom the Italian has been keen to work with.
The journalist revealed that De Zerbi has tried to sign Mohammed Kudus in the past and suggested that the Ghanaian could be an ideal fit for the former Brighton boss’s system.
Pitt-Brooke said on The View From The Lane podcast: “Kudus has obviously not played for a few months with an injury, but he’s been improving. He’s been, I don’t know exactly where he is at the moment, in terms of time scale to return.

“But I think I’m right in saying that De Zerbi tried to sign him for Brighton when he was at Ajax, or at least Brighton tried to sign him when De Zerbi was there.
“I think, someone said to me the other day, he could actually be a perfect fit for how De Zerbi wants to play, right, because he wants the kind of strikers to sort of pull off and create space, which the wingers can kind of attack in behind. I mean Spurs have not had a lot of that recently.”
When is Kudus expected to return for Spurs?
It was initially reported that Kudus was set to return to action after the international break, with the winger having been out of action since January with a hamstring injury.
However, there have been no signs of the 25-year-old in Tottenham’s training clips as De Zerbi put the squad through some drills.
