Rodrigo Bentancur faces an uncertain future at Tottenham, with his contract ticking down.
Bentancur entered the final year of his Spurs deal this summer, and there has been no news on a fresh one in North London.
However, the Uruguay international has been a consistent fixture for the Lilywhites this season, starting four of their six Premier League games.
Now, there could soon be news on Bentancur’s future after what has unravelled with Thomas Frank.
This article includes exclusive comments from Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham.

Tottenham expected to make Rodrigo Bentancur statement before January
It has been reported that Bentancur would welcome a move to Spain, with Atletico Madrid keen on the midfielder.
Indeed, if Spurs want to keep him in North London, then they will need to strike a deal with the 28-year-old fast, with the January window approaching.
Now, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that there will be an update on the midfielder’s future soon.
“I thought it was interesting, Porro being named as the captain [against Doncaster Rovers], maybe over Palhinha or Bentancur,” Wenham said.
“I thought that was quite a big shout. With Bentancur, though, we’ve got to remember that he’s now just three months away from being able to negotiate that pre-contract to leave for free in the summer.
“So surely, some update has got to come out that soon because he’s featuring a lot at the moment for Frank, and he’s being selected for a lot of games.”
What is the latest on Rodrigo Bentancur’s future at Spurs?
Wenham previously told Tottenham News that he believes that Bentancur could be holding out for more money at Spurs.
While that is probably true, neither the North London club nor the Uruguayan have publicly addressed his future.
Given that he is playing regularly under Frank, it would be relatively safe to assume that the Lilywhites will try to tie him down to a fresh deal.
Bentancur has been a Tottenham player for almost three years now and has been a consistent performer for the Premier League outfit.
However, if he were to leave, he would certainly attract some of Europe’s leading names in football, which could tempt him towards a new chapter.
As it stands, it feels like the 28-year-old will more likely remain at Spurs, but it is a situation that needs resolving sooner rather than later.
