The departure of Heung Min Son from Tottenham may herald the end of an era at Spurs, but his legs were beginning to go, and age catches up with all of us. This exit has arguably been perhaps two seasons too late, but at least he has his cup winner’s medal at very long last. A Premier League career fulfilled.

Elsewhere, we are left staring at the failure of Richarlison and the yet-to-be-dubbed Dominic Solanke, who was lauded by Ange Postecoglou, but as many a Tottenham striker before him, has yet to score enough damn goals.

We understand that Spurs have internally discussed the possibility of signing the 24-year-old Brazilian international Rodrygo. It was revealed by an insider, Rudy Galetti, that Madrid will demand over €90million (£78m / £104m) for the dynamic forward.

Given the colossal fee, it has been suggested that the North London side might start mounting a broader search. One such alternative to Rodrygo, might just be Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, who has recently submitted a transfer request at the Serie A club.

The 27-year-old Nigerian forward, who has submitted a transfer request to leave Atalanta, is valued at around €50-60 million. One immediate issue here is that the African is expensive and hardly one for the future. Does that necessarily matter if we are looking for the right now? The signing of youth is a great investment, but Spurs need urgent answers right now.

Lookman’s prior experience in the Premier League with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City makes him a strong candidate to succeed at Spurs, or he might be viewed with an opposing view that he didn’t exactly explode in England last time around.
