Tottenham remain interested in signing Pedro Neto from Chelsea, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

But they will only make a move late in the summer transfer window if a deal to sign Savinho from Manchester City does not come to fruition.

Spurs are in the market for forward signings late in the window, having added defensive and midfield cover early on this summer. Savinho is one of their top priorities, with a move for Liverpool's Dutch frontman Cody Gakpo also on the cards.

Tottenham are looking to make three more signings in forward areas before the transfer window closes, with Savinho and Gakpo understood to be two of those, with a new No.9 another priority.

City are thought to want a fee in the region of £85million for Savinho, with Liverpool looking for around £70million for Gakpo, if they sell, something they are reluctant to do.

Looking at the stats above, Savinho has time on his side when it comes to getting up to the levels a top Premier League club would expect, particularly when it comes to goals, but one thing that does stand out is the number of assists he already has in 53 Premier League appearances.

The City star only has six fewer assists than Gakpo, despite playing 74 fewer matches in the English top flight.

Spurs have been chasing Savinho for more than a year now and with deadline day edging ever closer, there are concerns about a deal getting over the line at all.

Chelsea star Neto stands out above Savinho and Gakpo

And Neto could be a valid option if the transfer falls through. The Chelsea star has fewer Premier League goals (20) than Gakpo in 53 more appearances, but almost double the number of assists of the Dutchman (35).

However, he will not come cheap, with Chelsea placing a near £100million price tag on his shoulders, according to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "In terms of wingers, I think we should keep close eye on the situation of Pedro Neto, because a few weeks ago Manchester City called, but believing that the price is too high.

Tottenham have Pedro Neto on their list if the Savinho deal doesn't happen, so Pedro Neto is on Tottenham list and remains on Tottenham list in case something happens and Savinho doesn't join.

But Spurs would have competition from abroad if they were to make a move for Neto, with Romano saying: "And then Pedro Neto is on the list at Al-Hilal as a possibility. Also in this case, depending on opportunities, he is not the only name for Al-Hilal but is a name. So let's see about this domino of wingers.

"But for sure, Pedro Neto is one to watch."
