Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that he is not complacent about one issue facing the Red Devils in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.

Ruben Amorim was at the Carrington training complex and attended his pre-match press conference on Thursday ahead of the Red Devils’ away trip at the weekend.

Manchester United will face Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off for the Premier League match slated for 12:30pm UK time.

The Red Devils’ showdown with Tottenham will be their final Premier League match before the start of the November international break.

Amorim’s men are eighth in the Premier League table, while Spurs are level on points with the Red Devils and Thomas Frank’s side are currently sixth.

The Red Devils were on a three-match winning streak in October before United faced Nottingham Forest last Saturday and dropped points at City Ground.

Nottingham Forest stunned United in the second half after going 2-1 up and the Red Devils found a late equaliser after a stunning first-time volley from Amad Diallo.

The Red Devils have managed to keep one clean sheet since the start of the season and United manager Amorim is not burying his head in the sand over the issue.

“Yeah, it’s a problem, especially if you see the league nowadays,” he said at his pre-match press conference, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“The team that is winning all the games is not suffering goals, maybe [even] some shots on target, and that is a big thing.

“When you have talented players, if you defend well, in one opportunity you can score a goal and win a game, but I think it’s more [of] a team thing.”

What Ruben Amorim thinks Man Utd must do to improve their clean-sheet record in the Premier League

The Red Devils’ only clean sheet from their 10 Premier League matches this season came during United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford in October.

The Premier League club’s win over the Black Cats came before the October international break, with Senne Lammens making his United debut at the time.

Speaking on United’s need to improve their clean-sheet record, Amorim explained: “We need to defend better, we need to be more aggressive.

“That part of the energy when we have the full energy in every ball, we defend better.”

The 40-year-old United head coach added: “So everything is connected, but of course we have a lot to do.

“We cannot suffer the amount of goals that we are suffering and that is a thing we need to improve.”

United have won three of their last five Premier League matches ahead of their encounter with Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend.
