In a summer that has largely been dominated by the pursuits of big-name players, Spurs have quietly been doing some important business in terms of outgoings. Two players have left on permanents, though a lot of their moves have been for temporary loan transfers. This appears to be continuing, as Tottenham Hotspur have now reached a done deal for Luka Vuskovic to go on loan to Hamburg.

Tottenham Hotspur Quietly Make Another Important Move In the Background

Medical Ongoing for Luka Vuskovic

Fabrizio Romano revealed on August 27 that Vuskovic was set to fly to Germany for his medical, after Hamburg gave the green light for a loan. Florian Plettenberg has now reported today (August 28) that it is a “done deal”, with the medical currently taking place in Hamburg. He stated that the “saga is over”, though the two clubs are finalising the last details in the background.

The loan will importantly be with no option to buy; the defender only joined up with the team this summer due to regulations, following a £12 million agreement in 2023. Whilst he has been “unused” by new manager Thomas Frank, the club and the coach will surely have the 18-year-old in their plans for the future.

Tottenham Continue to Make Smart Loans

Despite rumours around big names like Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Xavi Simons, alongside the signing of Mohammed Kudus dominating the papers, Tottenham have quietly been loaning out their youngsters this summer. Mikey Moore has joined Rangers, Alfie Devine has moved to Preston North End, Min-hyeok Yang will spend the season at Portsmouth, and Alejo Veliz has gone to Argentina.

All of these players have shown great talent, with Moore even playing a role in Spurs’ season under Ange Postecoglou, but would struggle to find many minutes in the first-team. Tottenham’s depth is now quite strong, particularly in attack, and there should be less of an injury crisis this year, with the Australian head coach gone.

Letting these players go out and get experience rather than sit on the bench, or even with the reserves, is smart. They should come back more ready for a first-team role, or even with a higher market value, should they depart permanently.
