Tonali found Dominic Solanke with a lofted pass, with the faintest of touches helping the ball into the bottom corner. Tottenham avoided their fourth defeat of the season but remain winless in the Premier League.
Sandro Tonali at Tottenham Hotspur
Until that point, Tonali has been uninspiring at Spurs. Newcastle United received a mammoth £100million fee and he is yet to justify the price tag.
Toon fans let their voices heard from the away end when Matthias Jaissle’s men earned a 2-0 win in August. His every touch was booed before being hooked on 72 minutes - giving Newcastle fans the last laugh.
Tottenham are still weathering a mini crisis and, as mentioned, are yet to win a league game this season. Tonali and Co welcome Coventry City - Newcastle’s opponents tonight - to North London next weekend.
Sandro Tonali wife speaks out
After grabbing an assist, Tonali’s management team posted “never question the quality” on social media. His wife, Juliette Pastore, shared the message, adding “class is permanent” with a shush emoji to fire back at the critics.
Tonali made it clear in several interviews that he left Newcastle to pursue the London lifestyle with his family. With Spurs sitting just above the drop zone, it remains to be seen whether the move will benefit his football career.
