Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a second sporting director could be nearing its end, with their shortlist now down to two names.

Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on adding another sporting director alongside Johan Lange as they aim to rebuild their squad this summer.

Lange’s future, however, is in doubt given his failures in the transfer market and Tottenham’s steady decline since he came through the door.

But nothing is certain yet, as Tottenham remain keen on continuing with their two-director model, and their search for a second sporting director has only continued to gather pace.

Tottenham sporting director search narrows to Sebastian Kehl and Dougie Freedman

Pete O’Rourke has now become the latest to report on Spurs’ search for a new director ahead of next season. The journalist, in a post on X, revealed that Tottenham’s search has now been narrowed down to two names.

It is understood that former Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl and ex-Crystal Palace chief Dougie Freedman are the two names the shortlist has been reduced to, as Tottenham continue talks.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In the last few hours, several other candidates have been named as potential targets for Spurs, including Bournemouth’s president, Tiago Pinto, whom Tottenham are keen to appoint as their sporting director.

It remains to be seen which one of these directors Spurs settles for as they plan their summer rebuild.

Spurs face competition as sporting director shortlist takes shape

Despite being named in O’Rourke’s top two, reports in the past have claimed that Dougie Freedman had turned down Tottenham, as he is not keen on a move at this stage.

But with reports still having him linked with Tottenham, it could well be that his stance might have changed.

Of course, going for the Borussia Dortmund sporting director, who only left the role last month, makes sense as there will be no fee to pay if they are to appoint him.

But he is not the only sporting director who is out of work that Tottenham have been linked with.

Fresh reports have also revealed that former Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli has now emerged as a target for the Lilywhites ahead of the new season.

However, Tottenham are sure to face intense competition, as several other clubs remain keen on Giuntoli.
