Tottenham are preparing a bid to sign Como midfielder Nico Paz following Arsenal’s hijack of their pursuit of Eberechi Eze, Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed.

The North London side have reportedly identified Paz as a potential replacement for the injured James Maddison and are looking to make another move for the highly-rated starlet.

Di Marzio claims Spurs already tried to sign Paz earlier this month but saw their €40m (£35m) bid rejected by Como, who are believed to value the 20-year-old at €70m (£60m).

Tottenham are on the lookout for several late reinforcements to Thomas Frank’s squad, with talks also ongoing over Manchester City winger Savinho’s arrival.

The Lilywhites are not giving up on landing the 21-year-old forward before the deadline, despite City’s reluctance to sell, with Frank particularly keen on his arrival.

Tottenham Pushing to Sign Nico Paz

According to Di Marzio, Tottenham are targeting an attacking midfielder to replace James Maddison before the deadline, following the England international’s long-term injury setback.

Maddison suffered an ACL injury in a pre-season friendly earlier this month and could miss the entire 2025/26 campaign, with his recovery expected to take six to seven months.

Tottenham are also without Dejan Kulusevski, who sustained a serious knee injury in May, and have parted ways with former captain Son Heung-min, who joined MLS side Los Angeles FC.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Paz made three appearances in the Champions League for Real Madrid in 2023/24.

Pushing for late signings, Spurs are claimed to be ready to make another move for Paz, although it remains to be seen whether their improved offer will come close to Como’s valuation.

Even if it does, Real Madrid will have the final say on the 20-year-old’s future, having inserted a clause giving them first refusal to match any offer from another club.

Paz joined Como from Real in the summer of 2024 and enjoyed a promising debut season in Serie A, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in 35 appearances.

The three-cap Argentina international, who made eight senior appearances for Real before departing, is under contract with Como until June 2028.
