This Saturday, our Women’s team returns to N17 for the first time this campaign as we take on Arsenal (12.45pm UK) – tickets remain available to buy.
After an impressive opening month to the campaign, which saw Martin Ho named the WSL Manager of the Month for September, we will be looking to bounce back in the competition after two disappointing results so far this month.
However, still sitting fourth in the table and five points off UEFA Women’s Champions League places at this moment, there’s plenty of excitement building for this weekend’s north London derby.
And even more so for summer arrival Alice, with the young defender excited to not just set eyes on our world-famous home of Tottenham for the first time, but also step out into a north London derby.
“I've never played in this stadium, so I'm excited to see how big it is, how the supporters are going to be loud and cheer us on,” she told us. “But we are just be focused on that game and bouncing back after last weekend.”
“I know this weekend’s game against Arsenal is a derby, so I can’t wait to play a part in that. It's a different emotion when it's a derby,” she added.
“I don't know how to explain it, but you really feel that it's a different game. You really want to win that game and show everyone who's the better team.”
Having joined us from OL Lyoness in the summer, where she won the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2021, the 23-year-old had a frustrating start to life in north London with her pre-season hampered with a small knock.
But after finally making her Spurs debut last month away at Crystal Palace with a further four appearances coming since, Alice is now focused on helping the team grow.
“I'm really happy to be here,” she said, when reflecting on her first few months. “It's a new competition for me, so I was really excited to start. The team has been really nice and good with me, so I can only do my best for the squad and hope we do great things together.
“I was a bit injured at first, so it was hard for me. Then, I made my debut against Crystal Palace and I was really excited to play and get out on the pitch. I know now that I’m here that every game is difficult and every point is important. So, when I came on the game, I was excited but also focused on what I wanted to do and be the best I can be.”
