JOAO PALHINHA has hit back at Jamie Carragher’s scathing criticism of him – telling the Sky pundit: You should have watched me more this season.
Carragher blasted Tottenham midfielder Palhinha’s “confidence and ability” to make forward passes following Spurs’ poor 1-0 defeat at home to Chelsea earlier this month.
Portugal international Palhinha, 31, said: “I saw it because some people sent it to me.
“About this, what can I say? I don’t care what the people (the pundits) say.
“If he speaks bad things about Ronaldo, he can speak about everyone.
“He probably should have seen more games of me at Tottenham. I think I am doing a top season and the things that he says about me go to the back (of my mind).”
Carragher was not shy of slamming Palhinha’s international team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo during his second stint at Manchester United a few seasons ago.
Palhinha, on loan from Bayern Munich, netted in the next game after Carragher’s criticism against FC Copenhagen, taking his season tally to four.
Ahead of Sunday afternoon’s derby at Arsenal, he added: “Some people need to speak about another to be on the TV.
“My life is not about that, definitely.

“It is a bit embarrassing sometimes seeing the ex-players speaking the way that they speak and they look on their past like superstars, I don’t have a problem saying.
“I don’t care too much because we have a lot of birds speaking all the time about us and trying to, how can I say, to drop us.
“But he’s not the first and he’s not going to be the last one.”
