Spurs Bowen Bid Might be Fake News But West Ham Can Expect Liverpool Interest

Let’s be fair — most West Ham fans expect the vultures to circle if the club are relegated. So, news that Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly move for captain Jarrod Bowen shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.

What’s odd, though, is the source. The story has come from the Spanish outlet Fichajes, which, while generally reputable, seems an unlikely publication to have an inside scoop on a transfer between two London clubs.

According to their report, Spurs are ready to take advantage of West Ham’s situation with a £60 million bid for Bowen in the summer, should the Hammers drop into the Championship.

Would Bowen Ever Join Spurs?

Ordinarily, you’d think West Ham would refuse to sell to Tottenham, but the recent sale of Mohammed Kudus to the same club has already torn up that idea.

Then there’s the emotional link — Bowen is deeply entrenched in West Ham’s culture via the Dyers and adored by the fans. Many supporters believe he’d never make the move across North London. Whether that’s true or not is anyone’s guess, but I’d imagine Bowen is canny enough to avoid a move to New Hart Lane Stadium (or whatever they’re calling it these days).

What’s certain is that Bowen is an exceptional player who probably deserves better than what he’s currently getting at West Ham. In the event of relegation, he wouldn’t — and shouldn’t — stay.

That said, it’s hard to believe there’s much truth in this particular Tottenham link. If Bowen does go, Liverpool would surely remain the favourites for his signature. Speaking to Claret & Hugh, a leading football agent said, “Liverpool’s interest in Bowen didn’t go away when Klopp left. If Salah continues to flop, he’ll go to Saudi and they could look at Bowen again”.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!

We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.
