This summer’s transfer window at Spurs had a full steam ahead vibe, with the signings of Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus, followed by talk of Morgan Gibbs-White. Now we have somewhat of a slowdown, with the tetchy Nottingham Forest owner issuing threats of legal action, which appear dubious at best, and very little in the way of credible rumours doing the rounds.

It is quite normal in the summer months for Turkish sides to get involved in transfer speculation, and in particular, this tends to be with discussions for players who they are seeking to get some value from, players who have lost their shine a little. The move of Tanguy Ndombele to Süper Lig side Galatasaray would be a classic example.

So this season’s Spurs flop of interest appeared to be Yves Bissouma. We reported just a few days ago that a Turkish official had flown to London to discuss options for the ‘Mali Player Of The Year’.

Now it appears that this may not have been the case, and whilst the 28-year-old was underwhelming last season, he may not be of interest to Fenerbahçe after all.

Fenerbahçe ➡️ Bissouma.

According to journalist Ahmet Ercanlar, this tale may have been twisted somewhat.

“He didn’t go there for that. First of all, the guy lives in England. His house is there. Secondly, he didn’t go there for Bissouma. He went for something else. There’s no Bissouma issue at all.”

“That guy’s house is there. He’s been there for years. I spoke to him an hour ago, and he told me he had absolutely no knowledge of that player. He said no one gave him permission.”

This is almost certainly true, but Fenerbahçe fans replied in number, suggesting that these were vehicle reversing noises, after the Turks had discovered how much the player was potentially going to cost them.

Ordinarily, the Turks tend to pick up deals that suit them, that reflect where the player is in their career. However, it isn’t beyond anyone’s imagination that Daniel Levy has asked a premium price for the former Brighton star, who has not exactly shone in N17.

More as we get it.
