We’re back in action this weekend following the October international break as we host Liverpool in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday (12noon UK).

Currently sitting fourth in the standings after six matches, it has been a positive start to life for Head Coach Martin Ho but, after suffering a narrow defeat to Chelsea, he will need to overcome an unwanted record to return to winning ways in the league.

Having faced the Reds seven times in the WSL, winning our first two meetings, we’ve failed to pick up any further wins since then against the Merseyside club – with Liverpool claiming two victories and three draws.

However, we’re out for revenge after a 3-2 defeat in our last outing at home to Liverpool in October, 2024, and we’ll be looking to build on a strong defensive discipline so far this campaign.

Our central defensive duo – Clare Hunt and Toko Koga - have been a key part to our strong start to the campaign and they’ve built a healthy partnership at the back.

In fact, we’re one of just two sides to name the same starting centre backs in each of our WSL games this season (also Aston Villa), with Clare and Toko playing every minute of our league matches this term.

With three clean sheets in the WSL so far - five across all competitions with a further two in the Women’s League Cup – no other centre back partnership in the league has earned more clean sheets than our duo in 2025/26.

Meanwhile, keep an eye on Liverpool’s Ceri Holland this weekend. The Wales international provided the assist for Cornelia Kapocs’ goal against Manchester City last time out which was her eighth in the WSL for the Reds – only Alex Greenwood and Natasha Dowie have recorded more assist for Liverpool in the league (10 each).
