Tough for Thomas
It seemed to be a tactical masterclass from the new man in charge but he fell just short in the final five minutes of the 90!
For a large majority of the game we saw some great defending, counter attacking and pressing from Spurs but their stubbornness was finally broken down in the dying embers of the game.
Thomas Frank will definitely still be proud of his time and rightly so as they went toe to toe with the Kings of Europe and Spurs fans will be hoping this is just a sneak peek of what to expect from their new coach and his tactics.
Proud Parisians
That's trophy number five now this season for this magnificent French side!
Even when they look down and out, they can still find a way.
Tottenham looked the better team but none of that matters when PSG are the one's who are lifting that trophy.
PSG WIN 4-3 ON PENALTIES AND WIN THE SUPER CUP!!!!
Luis Enrique and PSG add another European to their impressive trophy cabinet.
Even though Tottenham couldn't get it over the line, they played tremendously well for a large majority of that game but just weren't able to hold on in the dying moments of the game.
Commiserations for Spurs but congratulations to PSG - the kings of Europe!
Fulltime - PSG 2-2 Tottenham
And that's it all over - we go in to a penalty shootout!
What an end to the game it was - absolute heartbreak for Thomas Frank and his Tottenham side but great resilience shown by Luis Enrique's men.
Spurs started off the second half as they ended the first - on the front foot doubling their lead thanks to a Romero header.
However, since going two down PSG made a through subs which changed the game - particularly Ruiz, Lee and Ramos.
Ruiz was at the heart of numerous chances since coming on and of course the two goal scorers Lee and Ramos have now forced the game to penalties - what a game!
PSG 2-2 Tottenham
It's been coming!
Hakimi lays off Dembele on that right hand side where he was moved to play and it pays off!
He whips in a wicked ball across the box and Ramos comes flying in with a header!
It looks like it's going to penalties and PSG have ruined Thomas Frank's opening day triumph!
PSG 1-2 Tottenham
Tottenham have everyone in the box which leaves them with no one on the edge of it.
Whenever the ball falls to the edge of their box, it's always a PSG player first to it and Mendes has a shot crucially blocked which looked like it was heading in.
PSG 1-2 Tottenham
Dembele whips in a curling cross which is headed away well from Romero but only as far out to Vitinha.
He lays it off to Lee who takes one touch and absolutely drills that ball into the bottom right corner from range.
An absolutely lovely finish!
Will Spurs be able to hold out this win?!
