Tottenham look set to poach a huge talent from their rivals Arsenal, as journalist Gary Ward reports that a deal has been agreed for an academy youngster.
It comes as Spurs are continuing to push through a busy summer transfer window, with several signings already completed to improve Roberto De Zerbi's ranks.
Jan Paul van Hecke joins Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson in a much-changed backline, while Tottenham are pushing to sign Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes as new midfield options, with Savinho a possible arrival in the forward areas.
It's a much-needed switch for the Lilywhites after consecutive seasons of struggle in the Premier League, which has been in stark contrast to their rivals.
Arsenal's success in the division means there is little work for Mikel Arteta's team to do in terms of transformative change within the squad.
The Gunners are keen on a deal to sign Morgan Rogers, with any addition viewed as a player who could take the team to the next level for the coming campaign and beyond.
While the market appears different for the two teams, there is one player who is set to cross the North London divide.
Tottenham Set To Sign Kyran Thompson
According to a report from Tottenham journalist Ward, Spurs are closing in on a deal to sign Arsenal youngster Kyran Thompson this summer.
He claims that an agreement is in place that will see the 16-year-old leave the Gunners to join the Lilywhites as part of the academy setup next season.
Thompson is a versatile player, sharing his minutes largely between centre-forward and the right wing last season, though he has appeared on the left too.
The youngster largely played in the under-18s for Arsenal, but he did make an appearance for the under-21s in the Premier League 2 back in November.
The England under-17s youth international has been described as a "big talent" by Ward, as he looks set to cross the divide in North London in search of more opportunities.
It's not the first time this has happened to Arsenal, and Tottenham could make them pay in a similar way to their other London rivals.
Arsenal Face Academy Repeat
As is the way with academy football, players come and go on their development journey, but there are some who have slipped through the cracks for Arsenal in the past.
Perhaps the most painful one in recent memory was Omari Hutchinson. The winger had featured heavily for the Gunners, but left on a free transfer to join rivals Chelsea.
Within the space of a couple of seasons, the Blues managed to secure a loan move and then a permanent exit in the region of £20 million, despite playing little part in his development to that stage.
It was painful for the Gunners, and it could happen again with Thompson's switch to Tottenham on the cards. While there is still some development to come, Spurs could make them pay for losing such a promising young talent.
