Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Cody Gakpo is keen on a move to north London, and Liverpool are open to the idea of selling the Dutchman, according to a Spurs insider.
Gakpo endured a difficult 2025/26 season at Anfield, netting just nine goals and providing six assists across all competitions. This form has prompted the Merseysiders to consider the player's future, while Spurs have emerged as surprise potential suitors for the Netherlands international's signature.
The Lilywhites are eager to bolster their forward line before the window closes at the end of this month, after spending in excess of £230 million on their defence and midfield.
They're currently weighing up whether to pursue Gakpo or Manchester City's Savinho, although their decision could be made easier by now having the former's blessing regarding a prospective transfer.

Spurs have significantly strengthened the back end of their team this summer, adding Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to their ranks.
They wrapped all of this business up early and have since been dwelling on several different forward targets. With just a few weeks left of the window now, the North Londoners will need to accelerate moves for attacking players in the coming days.
Gakpo has emerged as one of the primary targets, although there have been recurring question marks around the player's desire to swap Merseyside for N17 in the saga thus far.
However, a reputable Tottenham source on X has revealed that the 27-year-old doesn't intend to remain at Anfield and actively wants to join Spurs. The insider believes the fee is likely to be the main stumbling block.
Despite being light on forward options, Liverpool are willing to sanction Gakpo's departure. However, given the Reds are pursuing the astronomically expensive Bradley Barcola, they may hold out for a fortune for the former PSV Eindhoven man, meaning Tottenham might have to fork out a fee way over the odds to land the player.

Spurs arguably need two wingers this summer, with both flanks looking seriously short on options heading into the new season.
However, it's not clear how much money is left in the coffers after spending such a considerable amount earlier in the window. It's likely they'll have to settle for one wide man, particularly if they're intent on also acquiring a striker.
Savinho remains on their radar, and if it's between the Brazilian and Gakpo, they should opt for the former.
While the data above depicts Gakpo as a marginally more productive player than his City counterpart, the 22-year-old is five years younger than the Liverpool man and is a more prolific dribbler - an attribute Spurs are crying out for.
Savinho may ultimately be cheaper, and his potential is significantly higher. It should be something of a no-brainer for the Tottenham hierarchy.
