Is 'THFC' commercial portfolio still a priority

The news that Daniel Levy had been unceremoniously removed from N17 arguably pleased more fans than it frustrated. Whatever personal opinions anyone might have held of the man himself, a football club’s success is measured by the silverware it wins. Under Levy, this on-field was played down as an extensive ‘THFC’ commercial portfolio was prioritised.

There has been talk of the Lewis Family spending heavily in the winter window, yet here we find evidence of another unconvincing transfer which wouldn’t cost very much.

One ongoing rumour links Rangers’ midfielder Nicolas (Nico) Raskin to Tottenham, particularly for the January 2026 transfer window. Spurs have shown interest since October 2025, impressed by his performances for Rangers and Belgium.

Spurs view the 24-year-old Belgian international as a midfield reinforcement, adding energy, pressing, and depth under manager Thomas Frank. Rangers are “extremely reluctant” to sell mid-season but would find it “very difficult” to reject a significant offer, especially to fund squad improvements.

Raskin is known for his energy, pressing, duels won, and progressive passing as a central/defensive midfielder. He debuted for Belgium’s senior team in March 2025 (Nations League) after 50+ youth caps, and has a few senior international appearances.

The estimated fee is thought to be £20-25m, potentially a record sale for Rangers (surpassing Calvin Bassey’s £19.6m to Ajax in 2022). Raskin has revived at Rangers after early 2025-26 struggles under previous management; he’s now a central figure and has expressed commitment to the club short-term.

There’s been no concrete bid yet; this is merely speculation with Spurs monitoring him closely. A summer 2026 move seems more likely if no January deal happens, but given the state Tottenham are in, with respect to the squad, this doesn’t feel as if a page has turned.

Spurs need to get on top of their transfer business and start buying ready-to-go stars.
