Thomas Frank has finally given his long-awaited interview having taken the reins at Tottenham Hotspur, with the Dane giving supporters a glimpse into his mindset and ambitions for the club.
Thomas Frank was named as the man to take Tottenham forward, having reached an agreement with Brentford in the wake of Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal.
The club will be hoping that the former Brentford manager can help steady the ship and significantly improve their fortunes in the Premier League, following a dismal campaign in which the Lilywhites finished just one place above the relegation zone, having lost 22 top flight matches.
Frank arrives with a reputation for building resilient teams and maximising limited resources, and he now takes on a squad with higher expectations but also greater scrutiny.
Thomas Frank gives an insight into what we can expect at Tottenham
The Dane has now sat down with the Spurs media team for his first official interview since completing his move from Brentford.
The new Tottenham head coach expressed how delighted he is to be taking charge at the club, stating that he is eager to get started with what he described as an amazing group of players.
He told the club’s official site: “I’ve only heard good stuff about all the people here, the training ground, the players. It’s a good squad. It’s an exciting, massive club with massive potential. So, it’s just super, super exciting.
MORE SPURS STORIES
“I had very good conversations and meetings with (Daniel Levy, Vinai Venkatesham, and Johan Lange) where we discussed everything in depth – details about the Club structure, processes – and of course I came with my views on things, how I saw it, my ideas, and the way I want to do things and how I try to build a team and a club.
“Of course, it’s not just me. I think it’s very important to say: yes, the Head Coach is an important person, but if I don’t have good people around me, it’s impossible. You can’t do anything alone, in my opinion.
“If you want to do something quick, you can go alone. If you want to do something big or achieve something big, you go together. So, it’s definitely about doing things together – me, the staff, the players.
“I think alignment is key – from top to bottom. Of course it starts from Daniel, Vinai, Johan, and me – and the more the four of us can be aligned, just like a unit, an unbreakable unit, the stronger we’ll be.
“There’ll be ups and downs – right now, it’s a fairytale. Everyone’s happy, the sun is shining, it’s fantastic.
“We haven’t played one game yet. Hopefully we’ll win a lot. We’ll work very hard every single day to make sure we create as many magic moments for the fans and put them together and at the end of the season we’ll have had a very good season.”
What next for Spurs under new manager Thomas Frank?
Frank is set to begin work immediately, with preparations already underway for both the summer transfer window and pre-season activities.
Tottenham are not involved in the Club World Cup, which has allowed the players a short break, but they are expected to return to Hotspur Way in the coming weeks as pre-season training resumes.
Spurs have scheduled several high-profile fixtures for their pre-season tour, including the first ever north London derby to be held outside of England, with Hong Kong set to host the match.
