Thomas Frank could bring his excellent player management expertise to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

Frank was known for being able to help players find their best form while at Brentford.

This was non-negotiable for the Dane, who often had to work with what he had due to limited finances. Bryan Mbeumo, who has been linked with Tottenham, hugely benefited from playing under Frank.

Now, the 51-year-old could do the same at Spurs heading into the pre-season tour and the new season.

Yang Min-hyeok to benefit from Frank’s appointment

Yang Min-hyeok was loaned to QPR after arriving at Tottenham midway through last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The South Korean celebrated his first milestone in English football when he netted his first goal in QPR’s 3-1 defeat to Stoke City (29 March).

While Yang has yet to find his feet at Spurs, the progression of Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard under Frank provides an insight into what awaits supporters.

The attacking midfielder signed for the Bees in 2022, and it took Frank almost three years to develop him into the player he has become.

From inconsistent gametime at Brentford in his first season to playing just 988 minutes in 2023/24, Damsgaard cemented himself as a starter last season.

His talent was always undeniable, but under the Dane, he matured. Damsgaard is less erratic and more purposeful in his movement to baffle his opponents and create space for himself and his teammates.

He reads the game well, and his vision, as well as speedy execution, helped Brentford to threaten the opposition’s area last season.

This is the kind of trajectory which could await Yang over the next couple of seasons under Frank. There is no doubt that it will take some time, but the forward could become one of Spurs’ most important players in the correct environment.

Yang should be given a chance during pre-season

It has been widely reported that Frank plans to evaluate several young players during this forthcoming pre-season before deciding whether to loan them out.

Yang would benefit from seeing the pitch a couple of times during that period. This would also help Frank to make a more informed decision.

There is no doubt a fantastic talent in Yang waiting to be given the chance. Frank simply needs to find a way to bring it out.
