Thomas Frank has his eye on the Tottenham job for years – and now, a former colleague has let slip just how long that ambition has been brewing behind the scenes.

Thomas Frank has certainly impressed since he moved to the Premier League, as the Danish manager has kept the London side competitive in the English top flight, leading them to two top-half finishes in the last three seasons.

The 51-year-old manager has continued to raise his stock, with Tottenham now linked with a move to appoint Thomas Frank following the sacking of former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou.

Thomas Frank is well-liked by the Spurs hierarchy, with reports revealing that direct talks have already taken place with the Dane, as discussions over the club’s long-term project have been held.

Brian Riemer, who previously worked alongside Thomas Frank at Brentford, has now revealed that the Brentford manager has been talking about joining Tottenham Hotspur for years.

Riemer stated that while they were at Brentford together, there were regular jokes between them about taking over at Tottenham one day – a club both held in high regard.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Riemer said: “Tottenham has always been my favourite club. At Brentford, we always joked that if we were going to move on from Brentford, it would be for Tottenham.

“It is a club that has had some challenges over the past season and there is quite a bit of work ahead of them. But Thomas deserves that chance. He has done a fantastic job.”

Spurs prepared to pay £10m to land Frank from Brentford

Indeed, a deal between Tottenham and Brentford could soon be wrapped up, with reports suggesting that an agreement may be finalised in the coming week.

Tottenham are expected to pay a £10 million compensation fee to prise Thomas Frank away from Brentford – a figure that is not believed to be an obstacle in negotiations.
