Ekitike talks Salah relationship as he targets Premier League title

"The thing Frank has changed at Tottenham is the mentality," TNT Sports pundit Crouch said. "He's a fantastic communicator.

"You see in the way that he talks, he puts his arm around people and tells them how good they are and the qualities that they have.

"We talk a lot about tactics in football, but the personal side, being able to talk to people and get the best out of them and give them confidence is important.

"From the time I’ve spent with Thomas Frank, he’s a good person to talk to, someone who lifts his players, and I think there’s a lot to be said about that in an age of tactics and formations and the way you play. The personal side is something he does very, very well."

Former Manchester City, England and Spurs shot-stopper Joe Hart added: "It sounds so simple but he just seems like a fair guy. You work hard for him, you do what’s asked of you and he will back you. If you don’t, you’ll see another version of him."

Hart continued: "He’s one of those guys you can speak to. He’s very personable, very open, you can tell he absolutely adores the game.

"To have someone in charge of you like that every day is great. He’s willing to hear people out and maybe hear different opinions."

Frank: ‘The core of any great team is character’

Frank told the TNT panel after Spurs’ victory over Leeds that "character" was the key foundation to building a "great team".

The Dane has seen his new side beaten just once since taking over from Ange Postecoglou, a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth in August.

The Spurs boss said: "I think the mentality and the character of any team is the major foundation if you want to achieve great things.

"It’s such a long season, there are so many difficult opponents - the Premier League is relentless, the difference between teams is so small - and there will be so many small setbacks in games.

"You need to relentlessly keep going so [character] is the core of any team and then of course you need to play good football. But the core of any great team is the mentality and character."
