Thomas Frank has lifted the lid on a private chat he held with Guglielmo Vicario after the Tottenham goalkeeper’s mistake against Fulham at the weekend.
On his day, Guglielmo Vicario is a really top goalkeeper capable of making superb saves, which often helps keep Tottenham Hotspur in games.
Such top heroic performances have already been on show this season in the games against Leeds United and AS Monaco, just to name a few.
Vicario is also amongst the best goalkeepers in the Premier League when it comes to save percentages; but his decision-making with the ball at his feet can sometimes be questionable.
Thomas Frank praises Guglielmo Vicario’s resilience at Tottenham
On Saturday against Fulham, Vicario was responsible for the Cottagers’ second goal, with the goalkeeper giving the ball away cheaply, having acted as sweeper keeper and then opting to pick a pass instead of booting the ball to row Z.
The Tottenham number one since addressed his mistake incident on social media, and now Frank has opened up on the matter.
The Tottenham manager began by praising Vicario’s temperament and highlighted the qualities that impressed him most before expanding on why he values his goalkeeper’s reaction to setbacks.

Speaking to the official Tottenham channel, he said: “Vic is remarkable. His character is fantastic in every aspect. I think it is about how you carry yourself every day in good times and bad.
“He is very consistent in that way. Everyone makes mistakes, but the way he carries himself, that impressed me very, very much. Also his response to setbacks and mistakes, I think he does that very well.”
Frank reveals what he told Vicario after Fulham mistake
Thomas Frank also revealed that he spoke to Vicario after the match, touching on how the goalkeeper handled the situation mentally. He explained that their post-match chat focused on Vicario’s response rather than the mistake itself.
The Spurs boss added: “I spoke with him after the game and I said how are you, he said he was okay.
“Vic is a relatively good player to deal with on setbacks like that, others maybe it would have hit harder.
“If you are a goalkeeper, I do not think there is any goalkeeper in the world… You know you make mistakes and how you deal with that is a big part of how you become better.”
