With Tottenham’s Premier League fixtures for the 25/26 season announced, we have now decided to take a look at new head coach Thomas Frank’s record against the league’s “big six”, comparing his record with his predecessor.

On 17 June, Tottenham Hotspur’s chairman, Daniel Levy, stated that Thomas Frank was the club’s preferred managerial choice, despite having 30 candidates lined up for the Spurs job.

Levy also highlighted that it remains the club’s goal to win both the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League, and for every Tottenham fan, they will be hoping their side can reach those heights sooner rather than later.

With Thomas Frank in the dugout, Spurs would certainly be aiming for a much improved showing from their league performance last season, where they finished 17th after suffering 22 defeats.

But it will not be easy for the Lilywhites to mount a serious title charge just yet, especially with European commitments to juggle, making a top-six finish a more realistic prospect for the incoming Danish manager.

However, if Frank is to compete with the so-called “big six”, he must also be able to consistently pick up points against them. We have now sat down to analyse how the Danish manager has fared against the Premier League’s top sides.

Thomas Frank’s Premier League record vs big six sides

Naturally, given that Frank has often taken on the Premier League’s top sides with a comparatively weaker Brentford squad, the results have generally gone the way of the bigger teams.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, interestingly, Thomas Frank has managed to record at least one win against every Big Six side he has faced in the Premier League.

Chelsea are the side he has beaten most, with Frank recording three victories in nine meetings with the Blues, earning an average of 1.33 points per game.

Manchester United and Manchester City come next, as Frank has secured two wins apiece against both, from eight matches each, averaging 0.88 points per game in those encounters.

Meanwhile, he has managed just one win each against Arsenal and Liverpool during his time in the top flight.

Ange Postecoglou’s record vs big six sides in comparison

When compared to his predecessor, both managers have recorded nine wins against the big six, although Ange Postecoglou achieved that tally in fewer matches.

However, when you take into account the disparity in resources available to both men, it comes as little surprise that the Australian was able to produce that return.

Notably, five of Postecoglou’s nine wins came against Manchester United, a side he has only lost to once during his time as manager.

Yet, he struggled in derby matches, as he failed to win a single game against Chelsea or Arsenal, picking up just one point from eight encounters with the club’s London rivals.
