Richarlison is set to become another player in the long list of transfers that did not work out at Tottenham.

Tottenham signed Richarlison from Everton in 2022 in a deal worth £60million.

However, his time at Hotspur Way has been disappointing to say the least. From injuries that have seen him unavailable for months at a time to poor performances on the pitch, the Brazilian’s transfer has been a resounding failure.

Richarlison is not the first – Tanguy Ndombele was signed for a record fee from Lyon, only to let injuries, loan spells and inconsistent performances define his time at Spurs – and he certainly will not be the last.

Tottenham to accept £20m bid from Galatasaray

As reported by The Sun (30 June), Galatasaray are interested in Richarlison, who is available for £20m.

While it remains to be seen whether the Turkish club can afford a deal, it is believed Tottenham want Richarlison out the door as soon as possible.

As a result, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Spurs will accept a smaller fee than what they initially paid for the striker.

“I think Richarlison will be sold this summer,” Wenham said.

“He did well in the UEFA Europa League final and was part of the reason we won the trophy on that night. However, throughout a season, he’s always unavailable, which is frustrating.

“It’s disappointing from a financial point of view that Saudi isn’t going to be the destination because I think that was the chance for Tottenham to recover their £60m.

“However, other than that, you’re looking at about £20m, and I think if a Turkish club offers that, it’ll be accepted.”

Richarlison must leave Tottenham this summer

Richarlison’s outgoing personality and work ethic on the pitch have made him a fan favourite at Tottenham. However, he still has to be sold this summer.

Last season, Richarlison made 24 appearances and contributed to seven goals, which is unacceptable for a team like Spurs.

As a result, Dominic Solanke has established himself as the number-one striker in North London, and this will likely continue if he remains next season.

Therefore, Richarlison should leave Tottenham this summer in hopes of a starting position elsewhere.
