Tottenham Hotspur may have to move quickly to land their midfield target Leon Goretzka following the latest update on the German international’s future.

It was widely reported that Goretzka was a target for Spurs in January, and while Bayern Munich decided to keep him, it has now been confirmed that the Tottenham midfield target will leave on a free transfer this summer.

Spurs and Man United have been backed to reignite their interest in the German star in the summer, but the 31-year-old’s free agency makes him an attractive option for many big clubs in Europe.

One of those are AC Milan, who have also been credited with an interest in the Spurs target, and they may now be ready to take a decisive step to land the player.

Gazzetta dello Sport have now claimed that Max Allegri has personally asked the Rosseneri to win the race for the Bayern man as he seeks to strengthen his midfield.

The outlet reveals that Goretzka has also received offers from Juventus as well as a few Premier League clubs, but Milan are now ‘pushing hard’ to land him.

It is asserted that the idea of moving to Italy and living in Milan appeals to the 31-year-old, and the Rossoneri management is confident of the deal after getting a positive response from the player.

Milan want to agree Goretzka deal swiftly

It appears that Tottenham Hotspur and the German international’s other suitors would have to act fast to win the race for the midfielder.

This is because Gazzetta say that Goretzka would like to have finalised an agreement with a club before the World Cup gets underway this summer.

The publication asserts that the German international could sign a three-year deal worth €5m (£4.3m) per season with the Serie A giants before he flies to North America for the tournament.
