Daniel Levy is working overtime to build on last season’s success at Tottenham.
Levy is leveraging Spurs’ enhanced profile following their UEFA Europa League victory and subsequent qualification for the Champions League to his advantage.
It has allowed the Lilywhites to sign ambitious players like Mohammed Kudus, who said in his first Tottenham interview that playing in Europe’s elite competition was a key factor in his decision to move to North London.
Levy is also using the momentum to secure favourable deals behind the scenes, and could be about to pull off a landmark deal.
Spurs close to finalising stadium naming rights with Saudi entity
Levy’s sudden splurge on transfers has raised questions about whether Tottenham may be in line to secure investment to fund their summer outlay.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Tottenham have reportedly been seeking external investors for a while, but Levy has been very selective about who he wishes to partner with, especially after falling out with INEOS.
Another avenue they have looked to explore is the naming rights of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and as reported by Ben Jacobs (11 July), Spurs are close to finalising a deal with a Saudi entity.
Levy first has to ensure that there will be no conflict with Newcastle United’s ownership before greenlighting the agreement, with the legalities of this currently being explored.
While the outcome is not guaranteed, talks are already at an advanced stage, with Saudi Arabian government officials involved in the discussions.
The figures of the deal are unclear, but it is expected that they will be significant given Tottenham’s ambitious spending already in the transfer window.
Spurs fans are growing in optimism
Spurs fans have been conditioned to take any seemingly good news with a grain of salt, as ultimately, they care about whether it translates onto the pitch, and history has shown that it often does not.
However, the Lilywhites can’t help but feel optimistic about the season ahead.
Thomas Frank’s reputation for developing young talent bodes well for the makeup of Tottenham’s squad, while his consistency at Brentford should make Spurs a much more stable side next season.
Additionally, with Levy potentially securing additional investment and demonstrating commitment to improving the first team, exciting times could be just around the corner for the North Londoners.
