Tottenham are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the fitness of the English forward ahead of a potential move.

Thomas Frank has been named the new Tottenham manager and he wants the hierarchy to add to their attacking reinforcements.

Spurs expected to closer look at Everton forward’s injury issues

Spurs will look closer at this extensive injury issue before making a final decision on signing him, according to Dr Brar.

He admits that this one is a yellow flag for the North London outfit given his numerous fitness problems over the years.

Discussing the state of play with Calvert-Lewin exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

“Spurs may take a closer look at his hamstring injuries and injury recurrences, along with potential impact on his fitness,” he said.

“Extensive injury history relative to minutes played.

“This one is a potential yellow flag for his medical, as there are concerns.“

Tottenham must steer clear of signing Calvert-Lewin

Tottenham should avoid signing Calvert-Lewin, even on a free transfer, due to his inconsistent goal-scoring and injury-prone record, which fail to meet the club’s need for a reliable, prolific striker.

Calvert-Lewin’s career stats reflect a modest output, with only three Premier League goals in 26 games last season for Everton.

His frequent injuries, missing over 10 matches in 2024/25 alone, raise concerns about durability for Spurs even though he’s made over 200 top-flight appearances.

Frank would demand a transformative No. 9 to compete for top-four and trophies, not a risk on a player who’s not available for nearly half the season.

Free or not, Calvert-Lewin’s wages and medical costs could outweigh his contributions, especially when the Lilywhites need a consistent 15-20 league goal scorer to elevate their attack alongside Dominic Solanke and Mathys Tel.
